In this blog, I’ll be sharing some of the best places to elope in California. If my words don’t convince you on some of these beautiful locations, maybe my photos will. While there are so many spots to choose from, I will be sticking to my three favorites. Each with a different yet amazing view. If you like desert views, ocean views, or forest views- you’re in the right place. Joshua Tree, California

Joshua Tree is a classic well known location. If you are hoping for all the picture perfect desert vibes for your elopement, this may be the spot for you. It has so many photo spot opportunities! If you are curious about the weather, it’s typically beautiful ALL YEAR ROUND! But remember it’s the desert, the summer will definitely be warmer. The best places to elope, in Joshua Tree CA

There are so many amazing options for eloping in California, such as in the Joshua Tree National Park, at an airbnb there are so many amazing airbnbs in this area, and Pioneertown is also a cute western feeling option!

How to elope in Joshua Tree, CA.

  1. Start off by choosing the perfect location for you two, whether that’s in Pioneertown, at a beautiful airbnb, or in Joshua Tree National Park.
  2. Apply for a marriage license, an appointment IS required! Check out this link here to fill out your application, and see the next steps as well.
  3. If you’re eloping IN the national park, you will need to apply for a permit which you can find by clicking here, it’ll give you all the details! Side note, you and your photographer will both need a permit. The Best places to elope in Big Sur, California

Big Sur is perfect for elopements, being there’s typically a small amount of people. If you love the water, this could be the perfect spot for you and your lover! Big Sur is definitely one of the best places to elope in California.

How to elope in Big Sur, CA.

If you elope in a National park/ state park around Big Sur, you’ll be required to pay a permit fee- check out this link to see all permit information. That link will take you to information on eloping at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park which is a popular state park there. This beach has breathtaking offshore views of stunning sea stacks and rock formations. I also definitely recommend hiring a photographer to capture you and this stunning location you’re eloping at, I’d love to be considered! The best places to elope in CA, Redwoods National Park

Redwoods National Park has majestic, giant trees. But it also has much more to offer. Redwoods is a national park, so a permit would be required, which you can find by clicking here!

What Redwoods has to offer:

Not only are the giant trees incredible to look at, but there are also numerous trails, and beaches to explore. Another thing to know, these trails I list next inside the park are technically not allowed to elope at as they are popular spots. Permits are not issued for Fern Canyon, James Irvine Trail, Stout Grove, or Lady Bird Johnson Grove Trail. However, you can still stop by these locations for some quick photo ops!
